UofU Chapter of the Utah Women in Higher Education Network
Have you ever heard of UWHEN? If not, allow me to explain.
As a part of the American Council on Education’s ACE Women’s Network, which aims to advance and support women in higher education, Utah has created the Utah Women in Higher Education Network (UWHEN). Each institution can then create their own chapter of UWHEN, which the University of Utah has done over the past few years. Enter UofU UWHEN.
Clearer?
What you need to know is that these organizations at the national, state, and institutional levels focus on advancing women’s leadership on higher education campuses through the following (IDEALS):
Identifying women leaders.
Developing women’s leadership abilities.
Encouraging the use of leadership abilities.
Advancing women’s careers.
Linking women to other women and mentors.
Supporting women in mid- and executive-level positions.
It’s pretty good stuff. Though, as the chair of the UofU UWHEN chapter, I’m probably a little biased. That being said, if you’re at the University of Utah, check out your chapter of UWHEN. In Utah? Look for your resources at uwhen.org. In the US? ACE Women’s Network’s national system of networks likely has you covered.
